Overview
Renewable energy generation devices require space, which is a hot commodity in the modern age. Solar carports can become key to combatting this as they allow for already in use carpark spaces to double up as energy generation locations.
The Project
Through Q3 of 2022 CCUK have completed multiple designs for a fully integrated solar carport energy solution to be installed at their main office site in Mansfield. The design incorporates Solar PV on a roof system which sits above car parking spaces allowing for solar energy to be captured and converted into electrical energy. This electricity will be fed into a battery storage system and housed for later use. The design also includes EV charging stations which completes the circular economy of these solar carports, as electric vehicles will be able to charge using these stations whilst parked at the carport using the renewable electricity it generates.
The Future
CCUK are excited about the future projects within our internal pipeline surrounding solar carports. There are many areas in which we believe these will have a use case and can solve very specific issues such as EV charging in remote or rural areas where it is difficult to establish a main line grid connection. CCUK expect to rollout further solar carports to commercial clients form 2023 onwards.
